WHERE SHOULD I GO???????????

I am wanting to move to California in a couple years and I need some advice on places, money, rent…etc.

First, I am 34, single with no kids. Just me and my adorable rat terrier Wyatt that I got from a rescue shelter. I live in a small town about 1.5 hours south of St. Louis Missouri. It has a population of about 13,000. Small conservative bible fanatic town. I on the other hand am pretty much the complete opposite. I am a Humanist and I am a Liberal, so needless to say, I don’t have many close friends here…lol I currently work at a billing company, we pay medicaid clms for about 12+ states. I currently make 13.00 an hour, which for this town, is pretty good pay.

There are way too many ‘country boys’ here with no college education and only want to drink beer on the weekends. It is VERY difficult to find a man to have an intelligent conversation with. The only thing to do in this town is a bowling alley, or bars, or go to Walmart. (not my idea of culture and entertainment)
I would love to move to California. My ideal place is a small town (by California standards..lol) of about 50,000-100,000 people. Not looking for a huge city but big enough to have stuff to do..i.e. museams, coffee shops, jazz clubs (or something like it) maybe a park or two to walk my dog and take a jog. Somewhere safe (since I am alone) to where I can go out during the day by myself and not be worried, or where I can go to the beach and not be scared being by myself.

I am in college right now, but wold be continuing my education over there if I do move. I am currently going for social work which may later turn into psychology or maybe even working at a non profit org.

I have lived in Missouri my whole life and am just wanting something different and more of what I am looking for as far as a community. I would like to start saving and maybe move out there in a couple years. How much do you think I would need to live in the areas I mention below? And how much would I need to make annually to be able to live in these cities/towns?

I would love to be close to the beach and in an area with very little rain and mild temps all year.
With all this being said…I have been looking into a few places to live. Can anyone who knows these areas and (now my life story) tell me if these are any good areas or not. I don’t want to go from a small town to a HUGE city..I would love to just start at a semi small town with pop 50,000-100,000 (as stated earlier)

I have looked into Bakersfield, Thousand Oaks, Ventura county, Gilroy, San Clemente,

also in North Ca–Livermore

These are the basic ones I have found that seem to have what I am looking for, however, reading about the towns only takes you so far. I would love to hear from some people with first hand experience of any of these places. Or your oppionon on what town would be best for a person from the Midwest.
I know this is a lot of info, but I appreciate any input you have! I am new to this whole experience, it is something I have never done before but I am excited!

p.s. oh, and also a town with NICE people would also be great! :)

Thaanks so much in advance for reading my story and all your advice and suggestions!

Where was Hiram Bithorn (Puerto Rican born MLB player) buried?

Hiram Bithorn (1916-1951) was the first Puerto Rican born Major League Baseball player. He played for the Chicago Cubs and later the Chicago White Sox, where he developed a career ending injury. He tried to make a comeback in the Mexican winter league. While there, he was gunned down by a corrupt police officer who was sentenced to prison for his senseless murder. In 1962, a sports coliseum in his hometown of San Juan, Puerto Rico (adjacent to Roberto Clemente Coliseum, named after another San Juan native who died tragically) was named in his memory. Hiram Bithorn Stadium is a very common professional sports arena today, and was the home of the Montreal Expos (now the Washington Nationals) for the short year before they moved to Washington after 2004. Rumor has it that Hiram was sent back home to San Juan to be buried.

Now that I have given all that information to go on concerning Hiram Bithorn, can anyone tell me what cemetery he was buried at and any other information you have?

Are more gang members going to pretend that they are illegal aliens to avoid prosecution?

Santa Ana California Gang Member Claims Illegal Alien Status to Avoid Arrest

You can’t say he wasn’t creative. Adolfo Aparicio, a documented Santa Ana gang member misidentified himself as an illegal alien so that he could avoid capture for an attempted murder charge for which he was being sought.

Turns out Aparicio got into a domestic dispute with his wife and mother in law. When the cops came, he took off but soon returned and took some shots at his wife, who fortunately, wasn’t hurt. Aparicio fled the area again and was arrested in Arizona, where he gave a fake name. But his fingerprints did him in: they matched a wanted out of Santa Ana for the attempted murder of his wife.

Aparicio is getting deported….to Santa Ana. He’ll face the criminal charges. It will be interesting to see if the District Attorney tries to charge it as a gang offense, which this incident doesn’t smack of. In either event, Mr. Aparicio is going to need good legal representation, because like it or not, his gang background will come up and may work against him.

Whether you live in Newport Beach, Fullerton or San Clemente, if you are charged with domestic assault or battery, call an experienced defense attorney right away to assist you.

Whether you live in Irvine, Placentia or Santa Ana, if you are charged with assault or battery, call an experienced defense attorney right away to assist you

Does anyone know of a rental house in CA?

I need to rent a house for 4 nights in CA. I’ve been looking everywhere, but can’t seem to find one that isn’t booked. A lot of ppl on vacation rentals have un-updated calanders too, so when they email back, they always say that they are booked. It must be open to arrive July 31st and leave the 4th, fit 4 adults and 1 teen, and be in either Ventura, Carlsbad, Oxnard, or San Clemente.

If you find any at all that’s open, let me know. Thanks :)

Anyone See California State Meet?(CC)?

Wow it was pretty incredible! Jordan Hassay won of course she is pretty amazing and Alex Dunne from San Clemente gave a great effort! But I fell that the efforts of Loyola Sophmore Elios Gedyon was overlooked. I mean really the D2 State Champion!!! Incredible. Also a great team effort by Dana Hills, I believe they are greatest team ever. And yes Jose Gutierrez from Valencia is my personal hero!!! (I’m freshman from Valencia). He came in 15:54 individual time since we got eliminated at MTSacSSfinals(13th). Anyways I thought it was a great day for CC and was worth mentioning.

Anyone living in California? Is living there really that sweet?

I want to choose a place I’m gonna live in and I’m thinking about California. Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, San Clemente, something like that (OC). I’m from Europe and I’ve been to the East Coast of the US (6 months or so) so is California similar to PA, NJ, NY etc.? Are things more expensive in CA?
And is it true that:
– the weather is beautiful all the time there (I mean almost lol)
– the cities are really nice with stuff like palms near streets, many cool mediterranean style houses etc.
– there are many skateparks and concerts
– there are a lot of nice chicks and the people are nice
Any other opinions, suggestions, drawbacks or good stuff?
Thanks for reading this that was long haha and for answering
