I am having a 1 hour cocktail hour for my wedding reception. A plated dinner to follow.

The caterer offers food selections in 100 guest increments. How many different types of hordouvers should I have? And, do I need to have 100 of each type of food? Or, for example, can i reduce my budget by only having shrimp hordouvers that feed 50 people? etc.?

I plan to have these as passed hordouvers, not buffet.

I found a catering company located in LA… I was told for – per person (total of 200 guest) the cost would cover stationary, appetizers, buffet meal, and coffee. From your personal experience, is this a reasonable price(00-4000)?

What was the cost of your meal? I know location plays a key role is cost and of course menu and # of guest? I’m just trying to make sure I don’t end up paying a lot more for something…and so far almost ½ budget in towards the meal!

Rentals are not included; we are also purchasing our own alcohol and just having someone serve it (hire). I didn’t ask about the cake cutting…I didn’t even think about that…. I’ll have to look into it.

is this too dressy? the shirt is actually pretty casual but looks good with the black slacks. i am 17 and this is my first ever job. its a family owned, small cafe that specializes in breakfast.. i might be a dishwasher or a busser, or even a hostess!

When is an appropriate time to end a wedding reception? Midnight? 2 a.m.?

I am getting married this summer, but my fiance and I are REALLY short on cash. We don’t want to have an outdoor wedding, because even though they save some money, we live in Florida and the summer is the rainy season. So, we are going to rent a space and try to save on catering instead.

If an event space allows catered food to be brought in from other locations, would we also just be able to cook food ourselves and serve it up buffet-style? We have friends who are good at cooking in large quantities, and they would be willing to supply us with food. I just don’t know if most event venues would allow this. What do you think?
